Wiring woes: wrx motor and loom

Post by D3V1L » Wed May 05, 2010 8:45 pm

hey guys

today i layed and set out all my wrx wiring harness into my brumby, and hooked up everything i could, ie: all the engine bay, and all the dash stuff im using etc etc.

i put in a wrx steering column as well (well i thought it was, its got a momo airbag wheel)

i went to plug in the steering column plugs (for the 2 stalks) and they dont go.

now im in a pickle caus i have no idea wot the column is out of, and dunno how to work out what wire does what so i can manually rewire the lot.

the other prob with this, is the stalks dont have any lead to play with, the plugs come straight out of the pcd board, which means i can cut off the plugs and wire everything individually.

any ideas on how i can resolve this? ive done a full conversion, and the steering column is the last thing on my list to acheive. really dont want to have to start from scratch again.

oh, and i dont particularly have any money to buy another whole column and stuff

I guess the column must be from some other random car then. Post up some pics of the offending plugs and plug holes, someone will know the specifics...

Dave.. do you have any thoughts as to what the column may have come out of?

the wheel is an airbag wheel (blown), BUT i dont think its a gc8 wrx wheel, its the same wheel as i got for my outback, which i BELEIVE may have been out of a GTB? .its similar to the rex wheel but the shape is slightly different and the logo is soft not hard (ie: doesnt have the ally bezel and stuff)

let me try find a pic of the wheel thats on it

no probs.. I think it's strange as Subaru don't really change much of their wiring around between different models. Come over and see if this wiring loom I have will do the trick? I can't remember if the column is there still or not (I'm 99% sure I didn't throw it out) so we'll have a look for that too :)

Hey, I've got a complete column sitting out the back from a 98 WRX, I think I've even got the key for it too, you're quite welcome to see if it fits & make me an offer, it's even got the Nardi wheel on it, PM if you want to have a look I'm in Mullaloo.
Tom.
P.S. Yours free if you help fit my roo bar & bash plate.........they were both made for WRX's so shouldn't be a biggy.
