Gen2 Outback - Central Locking Wiring

Hi Folks,

I've just brought a GEN2 (2000) model Outback. It's my first Subaru!

So far, I'm really happy with it, but noticed that the keyless entry is not an alarm, and it doesnt provide any feedback. So I have an old alarm in the cupboard I thought I'd try and install.

So far I've got everything covered except the central locking. Ideally I'd like to use the existing wiring/actuators. I found this reference here:
http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/ala ... /1989.html

And I've found the white wire, looking at a multi-meter it shows +12 when locked and 0 when open. I can also see some green+red wires, bit they dont seem to register anything on the multimeter.

The alarm is a Steelmate 888, the manual has the following options:

Can anyone give me some tips how to hook this into the Subi wiring ?

I last week tried to install an alarm into my Gen3 Outback (2001)

It cant be done with the lock switch (the wire that goes to the driver door and shows 12v when locked and 0v when open)

The only way i can see to do it would be with 2 relays and tap it into the door lock servo wiring.

Im yet to attempt this

I've seen a couple of early Lib's where they added remote central locking by putting only the drivers door actuator and receiver in.
It works because when you press the button it unlocks the drivers door which triggers the factory central locking to open the others just like you where using the key to unlock it.
Daza.

its a single wire setup. open circuit it and the thing locks all 4 doors. (wht wire in drivers kick.) so if you wire up the relays to open ciruit the wire on lock and ground it for unlock it will work fine. forget about sticking another one in the doors its already there - use it.

Tried it, it doesnt work. I tried the relay in series with the door sw, it would lock but wouldnt unlock because the door sw became open when it locked. I tried it in parallel but wouldnt lock cos when the door is unlocked, the switch is closed and makes the relay useless.

it does actually. if you ground the side of the white wire that feeds the car and not the door then it works fine.

now in relay speak:
relay 1

87a - door side of white wire
30 car side of white wire
87 - nc
85 - +12
86 - alarm lock wire

relay 2
87 - gnd
86 - alarm unlock
85 - +12
30 white wire car side.

give that a burl.
