you can get some good cheap ones from ebay now. and you can fit them yourself, very very easy. It basically is plug and play. 6000k will be fine, gives you a nice white/blueish light.

Yes ebay is way to go, but do research first, dont get cheap nasty ones, do get mid-high price range because they're better quality.

Due Subaru has weird wiring connections the lights might not be straight forward plug in, you might need to change the plugs to get it to work.

In my Gen 2 Liberty with Projectors, I have 4300k HIDs, i found them better than 5000k, I havent used 6000k yet but will some day. I find 4300k better light output and also without cops picking up that I have HIDs in mine.
Cheers

i have 6000k thay light up for a long distance but the light is farly dull and i find it easyer to see with my non hid spotlights

so i recomend the 4300k ones and there is an ebay seller selling 50watt hid kits for under $200 delevered

Yeah watch out for cheapies, their manufacturing tolerances arent as good and the HV side of the circuit board is too close to the LV side. If a flashover occurs, you will have a momentary spike of several thousand volts, and fry every electrical component in your car.
Current rides: 2016 Mitsubishi Triton GLS & 2004 Forester X
Ongoing Project/Toy: 1987 RX Turbo EA82T, Speeduino ECU, Coil-pack ignition, 440cc Injectors, KONI adjustale front struts, Hybrid L Series/ Liberty AWD 5sp
Past rides: 92 L series turbo converted wagon, 83 Leone GL Sedan, 2004 Liberty GT Sedan & 2001 Outback

Be careful as there are bogus ones out there that they are really 35watt not 50watt, as they've been re-stickered/labeled as 50watt.
50 watt ones are brighter than 35watts but if you put them in wrong type of headlights and will act like you're using full beam for on-coming drivers... not nice..
