7 pin trailer plug pin numbering....

Nearly crapped self after fitting and checking a new trailer plug. It did not match the numbering of the "Wiring Diagram" supplied as a numbered list on the back of the packaging.
After analy grafting two matching M + F tail light plugs from a wreck to have a plug into the back of my tail light and other end plug into my loom for hooking up my new flat 7 pin South Australia style trailer plug. The old round metal 6 pinner is out of date, dodgy and some goose hard wired into the tail light side of the loom. Also discovered my Brumby has a new rear guard!
I have drawn self a diagram of the results and then checked the list. How did I get it so wrong? I followed the colours listed and matched to their functions? It took hours to find the right plugs and fit it all up nicely so if any light trouble in the future I can unplug the trailer plug from behind the tail light and the plug has a new bolted earth terminal all on its own to save any earthing dramas.
PIN 1 Left ind .......PIN 7 tail lights ???
All over the shop.
Then I discover that it is niether PIN 1 thru to PIN 7 or vice versa.
The sequence is
1 6 5 3 2 7 4
The list on the pack is just in numerical order, no explain.
So I didn't stuff up , had no trailer on hand to hook up. Works a treat
N thanks to the commonly available brand !
