LED interior light upgrade

Being a bit of an electronics nerd, i love LED lights.

So i am converting all the interior lights in my Outback to LED.

I have one in the boot, i am toying with ideas for narrow focus leds for the map lights and i made this today for the main interior light.

I bought 2 x 36 LED panels off eBay for $16 each including postage direct from china. I then modified the factory interior light to make them fit.

Here are some pics

I'll fit it in my car tomorrow and take some pics of how well it works

Looks good there, where did you get the kit from?
If it can bright up the cargo area then I'm super happy!

What are your opinion about the upgrade compared to old globes? I did that once years ago and they weren't as bright as normal globe would be...

The last 2 images that subyroo posted are of 1W leds. Notice that they have a metal case, that is to dissipate the heat they produce.

These would be very bright.

I'm very happy with them AP.
The single 1W LED cabin bulb has replaced a 4 x LED Festoon type bulb and is equal to or better than that bulb and the cargo bulb is a huge improvement IMO, the map lights ......... awesome, but seeing as how they are a tight fit I will consider replacing them with the 1W Festoon bulbs when they die.

Remember that my opinion is based on my visual appraisal not what the bulbs are rated at etc.

LEDs have come a long way in the past few years. I recommend them for everything.

I have 2 LED downlights mounted in my tailgate and they are brilliant, and pull 120mA all up

Ok i just went out and took some photos

The main interior light is a bit bluer than the rear light, but very very bright. The digital camera didnt even use its flash.

This is the main light
