went back to it tonight with a light and hammer, the tap got an extra effort from the solenoid but thats where it ended. A push won't get it primed as it needed vacuum to operate the safety switch then a few WOT cranks to prime with LPG. Going back in the mornng with a spare starter and a coupla spanners and she should be right. Gave absolutely no warning prior. I suspect it is those solid copper contacts inside the solenoid worth about ten bucks if an auto elec will part with them.

wasn't gonna do this time, found battery strong, starter swap didna do it either. So back to square one and find that one of the wire hold down bolts on the power terminal loose (thought I checked those, BUT NOT WITH SPANNER) and there was some powder from corrosion build up. Snap off crappy bit, tighten up bolts and swear to fit spring or star washers like I did to the turbo subie. Got tricked this time and got a n eleven km pushy ride out of it !!
What I used to do was bypass the gas shutoff solenoids to prime the gas lines then I could successfully roll start it but thats all the old LPG primers had using a momentary switch!
