EA82 L Series: what size battery?

I purchased the recommended size battery for my standard L Series recently (Champion 305CCA 48RC) and it is only half the size of what can fit in the battery bay.

The battery that came with the car when I bought it second hand was about the same size.

What size battery can I use that will give me enough guts to run my power inverter and two energy saver globes and perhaps a radio or something for several hours? Will my standard Alternator charge a bigger battery effectively?

I went camping recently and 1x11 watt globe lasted about 2.5 hours before the low voltage (10v) alarm kicked in. My friend who owns a Landcruiser ran 4 globes and a Cd player all weekend with no issues.

Thanks for your expereince and advice.

Most subies can fit a large sedan 9 plate battery you just make a bigger strap to hold it.
I have a 460 cca in my Vortex and i ran a light truck battery in my old coupe.

P460D exide[460cc] fits with plenty of room.you can also mount 2 standard batteries side by side.

Two batteries side by side sounds good, I would have to make a bracket and put a regulator or something in between the batteries to charge them both.

I want to buy a 40Litre car fridge that runs at about 1.0AH for a long trip up north.

Perhaps I will need a third battery.
