EA81T ignition module
EA81T ignition module
Hi
does anybody have the wiring diagram for this module.
I think is is the same as early ea82t and others.
Thanks

I think by the ignition module you are referring to the round transistor mounted on the coil bracket.
Yes it should be the same for all EA81T, EA82MPFI and EA82T

Gotta tell you that Oz delivered MY's '79 to '84 and Brumby did not get blessed with EA81T's - whereas I suspect our NZ friends did. You got 4WD sedans in MY (Brumby shape) I hear and more Safari motors and rally conversion kits of downdraught webers sitting above each head.
So, not many of us will know your answer. But to be helpful, you think it may be same as EA82T. So can I ask
1.0 Is this motor in an MY 79-84 shape?
2.0 and what shape might that be
3.0 NZ factory delivered or privae used import from somewhere NX ID plate?
4.0 is it efi to be EA81T, if so it will have ecu for engine management
5.0 does it use a knock sensor? as EA82T's do in OZ at the RHS block at the top at the rear and is wired in conjunction with a knock sensor module with the four wires of the EA82T and efi? dizzy
getting the drift
and can you give wire colours too, has the module youask about got numbers and where is it located in car? The EA82T knock control box is mounted under dash between glovebox and door hinge

I don't know about EA81T's but the early vane AFM MPFI EA82T's don't have a coil switched by a transistor because the ECU is for fuel injection only .
I suspect that the EA81T being earlier than the EA82T uses parts more like the early 82T and there is a slight chance that some of the dizzy guts are similar/same as the early EFI EA82T or N/A .
I'm not sure if the 81T has the knock sensor dizzy retard capability but if not it may be more like the early EA82 EFI NA .
I'd ask around at USMB as they got 81Ts in the US .
Cheers A .

The 81T has the same knock box and knock sensor as the early 82T turbo, the ignition module interchanges and the wiring is the same [ just not sure if the location of the knock box is in the same place. I have even used 82T dissys in 81T , you just have cut one lug off and reposition the drive cog on the bottom of the shaft to suit.[ The advantage is the 82T dissy runs on a bearing and the 81T dissy runs on a bush]

this is for the early flapper style (Karmann Vortex) air flow meter for EA82T L Series

Hi just a note with ea 81t,s there was a 2plug and a 3 plug ecu, mine was a 3 plug and uses the same pinouts and componenets as the vane type ea82t, the knock sensor runs a seperate harnness and small box, ea 82t ones work. also the module in the dissy is a 4 wire if u intend to run the knock sensor if not a 2 wire electronic dissy will do the job. the vacume advance on the turbo also had a boost retard funtion. as my loom was cut both at the ecu and engine loom i had to make my own using ea82 wireing diag.
