1996 wrx speedo not working

hi guys, im new here, so plz move this thread if I post it in the wrong place, thanks. I come home after driving today for about 40 or so minutes and then went out a few hours later, and apon driving down the road I noticed my speedo is not working at all. Every now and then it will go up to 10km/h and then back to 0. Anyone had this problem before?

Snapped speedo cable by the sounds of it. Occasionally where they break they will catch on the other half to flick the needle up a bit.

it would be electric speeedo... is the ECM showing any errors?
