A Few Questions About the vortex Digital Dash....

Post by nncoolg » Sun Jun 07, 2009 8:01 pm

You may have seen my wanted ad for one of these, now a few Q's
Please Forgice me for all these queries, I need to know....

here's a scan from the XT Gen2 Manual:

Image

(1) It mentions a KPH/MPH button, and I have heard of a jumper that define the dash between the two, but what changes the Odometer, I assume they are mechanical?

(2) Is there model (transmission) specific dash's, or are different indicators in there, just blanked off?

(3) It says the turbo gauge varies with boost pressure, so do they use a different pressure sensor to the on/off light dashs?

(4) Does any body have one that will operate with a 4EAT AWD Turbo?

(1) I too have heard of a switch for MPH or Km/h, but you raise a good point about the odometer. Maybe the speedo gear (either in gearbox or the dash) is different too.

(2) I changed the dash in my DL l series to a dash from a GL. When i was pulling it apart, i noticed that there was an indicator for 'fog lights' so i followed the solder track and it went back to a wire in the connection plug, i just ran a wire from my 'fog light sw' and hey presto, it showed up. Maybe its the same on the vortex dash too.

(3) I cant imagine it would. Ive never heard of a boost pressure sensor in EA82T cars. I dont think it would be necessary, as the EA82T builds its 7psi of boost too quickly to make a variable display worth while.

(4) Good Luck
