Remote key - Battery replaced

Post by rattans » Tue Feb 17, 2009 8:34 am

The remote key was taking all the time to unlock doors so I replaced the battery in the remote key as explained in the Owners Manual.
Now the remote key does not work at all!!
Do I need to do any programming of the key? This is not explained in the Manual.
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks,
Rattan

Did you put the battery in the right way?
Bend the tabs little bit so it touches the battery properly?

Hi Bobby,

Yes, I did that on both the keys I have but neither works. I'm sure that must be some kind of programming needed??

Head down to your local suabru dealer and ask em. They'd be the ones that would have to reprogram it anyways so atleast you'll know.

How did you go with the reprogramming and how much did they charge you. I have the same problem.

I'm having the same problem too, but only during winter. Weird I know. Took my car and keys to Subaru last year and all they suggested was cleaning out the key, which they did, but it didn't work, then when the weather warmed up after winter it started working again. Now The weather is getting chilly again its stopped working.

I changed batteries a few times and couldn't get it to work. Took it to the service centre and they changed battery and it worked in 5 mins.
