Liberty Wagon Ariel

I noticed the other day, after I had driven home in my (gen1, s2) wagon, that my electrical ariel had either
a: got pulled out by somebody or b: unwound its self somehow.

The ariel wire was reeled up and hanging from the silver sleeve it comes out of and it still had some tubing left on the tip as well.

What I'd like to find out is,
How can I get to the ariel (what things do I have to pull off to get at it)
And how can I disable the winding motor in the mean time, so it doesn't want to wind one way or the other when I start of turn off the car.

Depending on what I have to do to fix it, I'm thinking of keeping it where I have temporarily put it. This is, under the black plastic which runs up the rear side window and then along under the roof guttering (black plastic thing). Its out of the way, reception is good and I wouldn't have to worry bout it ever again. I'll take some pics.

To stop it working jush have it up then disconnect the remote wire on the back of the head unit to kill power to it, it still works but doesnt move!
