Gen1 Liberty cable penetration thru firewall

Post by maddog » Tue Sep 30, 2008 3:27 pm

Hi Guys,
Can anyone tell me the easiest way to get cabling thru the bulkhead from the engine to the cabin? I'm in the process of wiring up my spotlights & foglights to switches in the centre console but I'm b*ggered if I can find a way thru the firewall - best guess so far is in thru the aircon overflow tube/grommet. Thanks for any suggestions!
regards, Justin.

Large rubber grommet on drivers side, make small hole in it that will allow you to feed the wire through, a soldering iron is good for making the hole.

^Just pulled out some old wiring from a previous owner going through that grommet (some kind of phone setup).
But I've got my amp wire running through the aircon grommet, not going through the rubber, I've just peeled the grommet out a little to push it through.

But yes the grommet on the drivers side, shouldn't be touched by anything from the factory...

aircon grommet is a good one to use. just make sure the cable isnt rubbing against the sharp edge of the nut on the aircon hose
