I am trying work out how I install a swicth in my Brumby that will over ride the thermo switch but I still want the thermo option.

... If I splice a wire onto the wire that leads to the thermo swith on the radiator - then run that wire to an on/off swith in the cab - which completes the circut (grounds) when it's swithced to on - would this work?

Better still is to get the switch to throw a relay, and use the contacts to do the load rather than the switch, as the fan does consume a few amps and then it will last longer.

Yes its negitive switch to ground for it to cut in.

I used and illuminated toggle switch that makes it easy at a glance if its left on un- necessarily.

A fan spikes at 10+ amps at start, and runs at ~8amps. not a nice load for a switch. do the relay, then the switch wire doesn't need to be too heavy to get to your dash.

I have done both, with and without the relay. i also recommend the relay as without the switch inside gets pretty hot.

I have used an air con switch in the dash to do the job.

Actually seeing as though my air con is not wanted for power reasons and space reasons the original air con dash switch operate the left fan and a spare switch mounted in the space next to it in the dash controls the right fan
