The first "spare" clock I picked up was from an 88 model and it is the one I was able to positively ID the 75 ohm resistor from.
I dont think it has the amber lense and the only differnence I can see with this clock and the later ones is the plug is different (Easy to change over though) and internally there may be a difference with the lense size. Not sure though. I have clocks everywhere at the moment and will look into lense interchangeability when time permits.
Unfortunately, while this 88 model clock has the 75 ohm resistor intact and tests OK on the meter the clock still does not work either in my car or on a power supply.
In all if the problem ends up being a resistor/diode/capacitor etc then a fix should be time consuming to find but not a hard fix. If it ends up being an IC things get harder.
I will still be looking on monday or tuesday for a couple of 85 model clocks and see how things go.

If anyone would have told me I would become obsessed with L series clocks 4 weeks ago I would have told them they were mad. I didnt even have an L series at that stage.
Go figure.
Anyway, I have been researching L series clocks (and collecting them) and have built up a fair lot of observations. Before I send everyone mad with ramble would people like me to list my observations in this post or is interest low in which case I will wait till someone wants to know something about one of these instuments.
I will pass my knowledge on then.

Let rip with the details, mate.
I've pensioned off my '89 Tourer, but I'm always up for more info on these quirky beasts.
BTW you can have the clock outta mine, but it comes with a car attached....lol.

Battlewagon
While I would love another Subaru but my wife already thinks I am mental in having the MY and now the L series.
I have to reach a compromise in selling off my other hobby which is collecting ride on mowers ( I have 5) and then I will have room, some peace in regards to my mental capacity and some cash.
I alreay have 6 clocks from L series including the one in my car so in the next few days I will get my facts straight and post something hopefully that makes sense.

Now, if I hadn't given up, fitted my jaycar special LCD clock in its place and tossed four or five L Series clocks - you could've had more :D

I had to stop my no know electronics efforts before it became a compulsion!
