A/C Help

Post by timmo » Sun Jan 07, 2007 12:08 pm

As part of my EA82T converesion I also installed A/C from my donor car. Now its all hooked up and going I have found that the A/C is engaged (compressor & elec fan is switched on) as soon as I switch the interior blower fan on even when the A/C switch on the dash is off. Why is this happening? I havnt had it gassed yet.

I retro fitted air con into my 92 brumby over the past few weeks I had this exact problem, where the air con clutch would engage even with the fan off, when i turned the fan on the air con would turn off, even with the a/c switch off.

i took it to an auto electrician who put a relay in near the switch, apparently there was power keeping the air con/triggering the system

yeah to fix my problem I just installed a switch in the wire from the interior fan that triggers the air con. It works. I did notice in my haynes manual that there is a difference in the wiring for the air con between manual and auto trans, and since my air con system came out of an auto i'm suspicious that this may have been what was causing the problem. I dont know what the auto would have different? maybe air con switches off when the downishift switch is triggered at full throttle....? i dont know ...and dont want to know!! haha
