Removing a 92 Brumby Light switch

Post by its.wayne » Mon Oct 08, 2012 6:16 pm

Just wondering what holds the light switch into the plascic dash facia
Got the upper & lower steering column moulding loose and the screws out of the wide lower gauges suround etc.Electrics are un clipped. But how do you release the switch from the dash moulding?
I'm doing this cause no lights at all and switch looks damaged after a prang - the dimmer for the dash is pushed into the switch. Trying a replacement.
thanks wayne

testing me, think you prise the knob off the outside, dimmer one first - but really need entire unit out to rip it out and fit another. I drop steering column by the two 12mm bolt heads underneath , that bolt up onto frame work - makes for easier removal

Yes, just yank it out and then use a shifter to undo the nut that attaches the rotary switch to the dash.

the nut is very thin as in flat, about 16mm, a bit like a car radio knob nut and is on the underside of the knobs, not underside of fascia

Isn't there a screw in there too - or is this in that area to hold the facia to a frame behind it? It's been a long time since I've been in that area!

Cheers
