Waterproofing Dizzy's on EA81's

Post by Matt » Mon Apr 25, 2011 6:26 pm

I had a bit of problem with water get in the dizzy (by water read like 5 dops but enough not to start the car). I would like a solution that doesn't look to ugly, ie rubber glove with cut off finger tips. I am open to suggestions? :)

Or for a quicker job - than the delivery time from Japan - a very careful application of silicone will do the same job.

would love to see pictures of this ring gasket being installed into an EA81 dizzy as for the life of me I can't see where it would go (yeah I know between the cap and the dizzy)

my personal favourite is a liberal application of axle grease on the mating surfaces of the dizzy cap and body, then a giant dose of canola oil spay on the internals and inside of the cap

You spray canola inside the cap?
Does this prevent water condensing within the cap even though it would be conductive to HT voltage?
Regards

Gary ;)

the canola oil repels the water. I've never had a problem with it conducting electricity, it works the same as WD40 or RP7 but costs 1.99 at coles.

and in a pinch spray it on the exhaust then you can fry eggs if you are without a frypan :)

Or spray it all over engine bay prior to mud play for an easy clean afterwards :)

Andy, can you take some instructional shots to satisfy TOONGAs needs please - I missed his request
