want digital Volts display 1 to 5 volts

Post by steptoe » Sun Jan 09, 2011 9:34 am

I'd like to permanently monitor my knock sensor readout in Volts between 1.7 and 4.5V in digital display on the dash feeding off ignition supply. Have been using on a temporary basis my DMM but looks a bit rough and powers up from 9V battery until it goes flat.

The Volts gauges available for auto use read from 8 to 18V generally.

Is there a basic Jaycar or the like unit I can buy and just hook up for this porpoise?

Be odd ball handy to have similar read off the TPS at times too for the info gready techno dudes

And waddayaknow, look inside latest jaycar monthly flyer and new product is LED Panel Meters , LED voltmeter 0 - 30V, power requirements 8 to 30V @ 25 bucks. and an LED ammeter forty bucks 0 - 50A. panel cut out size quoted as 42 x 23mm. The display looks about half the 23mm height in the picture
Worth a shot I reckon for my application.

NO IT'S NOT !!

Bleeding misprnt. has only two wires hook up and they supply the Volts to be read. Needs 8 to 30 Volts to work and reads 8 to 30 . The Zero was a misprint in the catalogue.

Poop.

Bought an old style analogue panel meter 0 to 20 V whih fits nicely where a working clock once left the factory in the car :)
