I was wondering if the 1982 MY touring wagon instrument panel (dash) in the auto was the same as that in the manual.
My car was originally the single range, 3 speed auto 4WD and a few years ago I swapped over to the dual range, 4 speed 4WD gearbox. The (auto) dash only has the one 4WD light that came on when the auto's 4WD button was pressed. I seem to recall from my 88 L series that it had 2 lights, one for low range and the other for high range 4WD.
Is the earlier manual MY the same, ie, 2 lights, or did both the auto and manual only have the one 4WD light on the dash. If the MY manual did have the 2 lights I will go looking for a manual dash.

I've done it with Sunnie the Brumby, changed the dash to a six guage dash. The 4wd lights don't come on at all now and I've been meaning to pull the dash apart to see if there's any globes in the 4wd indication lights.
I'd check to see if there are globes in there for starters. Failing that a few wires my need to be run to the switches to make them work.
I can't get the brumby to stand still for long enough to check it out - that and it never goes off road anyway (at the moment).
Best of luck with it.
Cheers
