Diff Mount Bushes

Just a query about L wagon rear diff bushes,

During the course of 2 years of trawling through wreckers and swap meets I've noticed that nearly all L wagons, especially from 89 onwards, have a almost destroyed/completely worn rear diff bush mount.. does anyone here know if this was a common problem with the series or is it just a sign of wear and tear or extreme offroading use?

I do understand that bushes are not indestructable and will wear away over time, and am looking at replacing mine tonight in an effort to eliminate vibration at highway speeds. As an afterthought posting this to guage how long between install & replacement will be.

p.s. installing urethane bush ATM.:???:

I have noticed from you pic (in the icon box) that you have a boat trailer attached and these will ALWAYS kill you diff bush.

Yes, you are correct, its a part of wear and tear on the L series. Replacing with installing urethane should mean that you will not have to do this job again... well for at least many many many years anyway.

Cheers for the info, yep 400kg boat, trailer etc 1000klm round trip last year, did'nt notice any problems on the highway but knew something was up when I got back to the suburbs. Did have the wagon checked by well known subi mechanics before the trip, "oh yeh, everything looks fine.." famous last words..
