Engine differences

Post by ORX-18 » Sun Feb 17, 2008 4:45 am

I need to know if there is a definite difference between an EA82T and non T engine BLOCK/CRANKCASE. I have found that my problems with the current engine are due to twisting the block so i need a new one asap so i can get it back on the dyno.
To combat this im going to introduce more dowels and studs, ill keep u informed on how it goes :)

The non turbo blocks do not have the extra vent at the rear of the crank case for ventilation. Thats pretty much it.

Correct. I dunno if they have a spot for the knock sensor though. The MPFI non turbo's don't have a knock sensor, but from what i have read i believe the turbo's do run the knock sensor...

Bennie

PS, would like to know what you were doing to the engine to twist the block!

I am 90% sure the later NA MPFI blocks have the tapped hole for the knock sensor just no probe .

Cheers A .

I have not ever seen an NA EFI block in the workshop, the only EFI i see in an EA is a turbo one.

As for knock sensor i remember the mark on the block but i dunno if the thread is there for the knock mount

Australian MPFI's were avaliable between 88 and 90 in the touring wagons. They had the 4 plug ecu system
