this is the second time in 2 weeks and i dont know whats causing it has anybody had any trouble with this before

the cars a 92 brumby with stock running gear

More info... did you replace broken 1's with with new bits?
Have you had the car long? Is it straight?

no i replaced them with second hand ones

but the cars in good nick some parts of the suspention could use some work but ill have to see whats left after the bills get paid

These mounts suck at the best of times. Next time u get replacements... fill in some of the gaps with sikaflex and let them set before u fit them... they last a hell of a lot longer if u do.

What are the engine mounts like , it could be related to the fact that they may be stuffed , and I wouldnt bother with second hand ones , not worth the saving.

I have been told MY gear box mounts are near on impossibly to buy new in WA. Hence me using Sikaflex in second hand mounts.

even brand spankin new ones have waaaaaay to much movement for my liking... id say buy 2 new ones and fill the gaps with some sorta urethane


and it just so happens i have 2 new ones i dont need because ive gone for the 5 speed on the monsterwagon

It might be worth checking your engine pitch stabilizer.

When the bushes are worn your whole engine/gearbox assembly will rock harder than Led Zeppelin every time you hit the gas.

bluesteel What mounts are u using?? I have the 5 sp and still needed to stick with the MY mounts... what did u do to fit L series mounts (if thats what u did).

used the whole l series crossmember... looked stronger

i just held the l series crossmember up and decided that all i needed to do was drill 2 holes either side for it and grind off all the bits that were going to get in the way

once you know where its going to go and abouit where to put the holes for it just turn the MY crossmember upside down and drill the holes through it.. gotta line up that way

then welded some more reinforcing onto the ends of it where i cut out too much for it to clear where it bolts onto the car

ill get pics when i get a chance, but my camera dosent like bad light and the weathers been a bit poor lately

the engine pitch rubbers are good engine mounts might be a bit soft but not broken

but theres a local company in town that can fabrocate them to any hardness i want so i might give this a try if $$$ permits

failing this do repco or anyone have any aftermarket mounts the guy in burson couldnt find the gearbox ones and subaru wants an arm and a leg for them

On my old MY I ended up just getting genuine ones from Subaru - yes they were rather expensive. I've spoken to SunSpares about this since though and they can send you some in very good nick for a fraction of the cost.

i think mine are kelpro, got them from repco
they are still only rubber... not the fancy urethane ones and i did a lot of searching to not find anyone to make some urethane ones

and i still have 2 Brand Spanking New Ones if you want them

yep, kelpro have a listing for EA81 gbox mounts

i think gen are $72 each !

my price was 55 for gen mounts but thats ok

think i fixed it but i dont know the clutch had 2 springs that had fallin out and after fixing that it dosent shake anymore
but dont knoy if thats what made it shake in the first place

Work for me too, and still going strong. MY mounts to L box.

I'm currently collecting bits to convert brumby to 5speed, the box i have doesn't have mounts on it so i tryed some MY one's, they don't fit? bolts are further apart on L box?

i thought it would be easier and stronget to make the L crossmember fit at the time because i had the welder and grinder out

the MY ones would fit im sure with a bit of work too! :P

oh and L seies mounts on the 5 speed box fit straight up to the MY crossmember but you have to stretch the rubber round so i doubt theyd last long that way

You have to eleongate the holes on the MY mounts to meet the bolt holes on the L box, there's a few people here who did it this way, I customised the L crossmember so I'm only going off what I've read.

Using the MY mounts and crossmember is a much easier and tider approach, if I was to do it again I'd do it that way.

I'll vouch for that ! Elongate the holes on MY mounts to suit their respective sides on 5 speed box. Caution...elongated inwards on one side, outwards on the other. Know your left and right mounting brackets first, keeping in mind left looks different if you are lying on your back looking up.
