gday guys,
after finishing my EJ conversion into brumby, just got the brumby temp gauge going again and it sits about 2 mm above the line where it used to sit, i'm assuming that this is just due to a higher temp run in the EJ. if anyone knows it would be much appreciated.
Cheers Tim

Mine sits right in the middle of the guage, I ddin't have it running as an EA before so can't compare. Interestingly the fans very rarely come on so the MY rad must be doing it's job well.

When I fitted mine I kept the EJ sender (was told it would need to be changed) but with my Coupe dash it sits right on the spot the EA81dc used to. Interesting thing is the fans come on when it's about 2mm higher on the gauge then they used to. I'm guessing the EA81 sender is slightly different to the EJ sender as I'm still using the original in radiator EA81 thermo switch.
It sounds like your radiator isn't clean or in great condition.
My 22 swap only uses the fans if it sits there for more then a few minutes or if I'm driving it hard offroad.

on l-series the standard operating temp should be no more than a quarter, thats where mine sits on a good day, the fan kicks in just as my ea82 guage hits 1/4...

Yes, the L series sensor appears to be quite different to the EJ and EA81 sensors. You can fit a 260ohm (I think that's the right amount) resistor between the gauge to sensor wire and earth. This should get the gauge back to where it normally is.

With my hatch... the guage turned out spot on after the EJ conversion... i think the imported Subies might have a guage set to the same as the EJ motors.
I didn't know you could add a resister inline like that...might have to try that on someone elses car.

So does anyone know the the actual figures for temps run by the two different motors?
my engine runs fine and turns the thermo fans on and off when needed. it sits pretty much in the middle of the MY guage, its just slightly higher than the original temp line.

My EJ seems to run just over 80deg c. The bottom of the red on the gauge (I kept the l series sender) is 105deg c
