REAR CV question

ok have a minor issue with one of the rear shafts. passenger side is fine length wise but the drivers side is a bit short. it stretches the boot to full travel.

now I have WRX inners on it with L shafts and L ends to mate up with the stub axles. rear diff is a 4.44 VLSD with the early twin spline end on one side.

what have others done for this short shaft I still have the WRX shafts handy. - postie- help!

You should have got under my Vortex and had a look when you were here. I had the same problem and fixed it but don't remember how. Maybe SWK can remember.

Chris did you get this sorted. The drivers side on mine has come out bout 10mm,like the baffle ring sits out from the diff. This has happened just from jacking the car up and down.

not yet. I have the WRX shafts but I'm going to wait till I get the car to BNE.

chris are you rex shafts complete?I need to have a look at some shafts not attached to a diff and a set of late ea shafts.I've got some old style ea turbo shafts with doj both ends, not cv and doj like the later ones[this is combo i'm having trouble with].i've done a bit of measuring with the early shafts and i think there is enough movement in the outer doj to make up the lenght difference.Whats odd with the original problem is the lenght on the drivers and passengers shafts is the same and when you measure from the diff to the stub on the wheel end those lenghts are the same, yet its seems to be the drivers side that comes out. Also spoke to the guy at subi evo and he reckons we might be able to use the ea outer cv on the lib shaft, just got to get them apart.

apart from the ends that are on mine - yes.

the WRX shaft was where I was heading (I'm not competent enough to pull them to bits.) as the L ones are DEFINITELY wrong for this appication. when you get the EARLY wrx shafts there is a left & right side. I think rt (driver) is longer. will know on sunday when I go out to get hte rest of my stuff.
