Hey guys my suby has finally died and gone to heaven

. Two questions the first is that she is losing heaps of oil at the back and underneath the right hand side head somwhere can't tell exactly as to much oil everywhere 8O . Is this a major situation or not. The other thing is the clutch let go finally been waiting for that for a while where is the cheapest place around melb to get a clutch or is it cheapest to have some one else do it for me.
Cheers

s far as the oil leak goes a good idea would be to give it a good degrease and then see where the oil is coming from , it may be as simple as a rocker gasket seal.
If you are sort of handy with the tools , the clutch really isnt a difficult job to do , just remove the engine and box together and do it with them both out of the car , if the rocker cover gasket is the culpret of the oil leak you can easilly replace that while you do the clutch.

I did the clutch in my brother's L series about six weeks ago, it took me (working by myself

) just over 2 hours in the driveway with limited tools (mine were at work).
Easiest way to do the clutch is to rip out the motor. To do that you disconnect all hoses and cables between the body and the motor, drop the exhaust, undo the two bolts under the engine mounts and the bolts and nuts between the engine and gearbox. Old clutch off, new one on and as visually central as you can. Don't tighten up the clutch bolts completely, do them finger tight. This way you can line up the clutch with the input shaft quite easily, then tighten up the clutch bolts through the starter motor hole. Easy peasy.
As for the oil leak how much has it dropped? Like Mike said, its probably the rocker cover gasket. Personally I replace these in pairs, up to you if you want to do the same. Definitely heaps easier to do with the donk out.

Thank you all very much that doesn't spound to bad at all I have been stressing about this. Next question chaepest place to get a clutch as most joints want $480 to supply or $500 to supply and fit. This is stupid the monster one I bought for my MQ patrol cost only $130. There has to be somewhere cheaper or I would not mind putting a heavy duty one in if it was around the $400 mark.

I would shop around a bit more.
When I did mine, I did a pressure plate exchange, new thrust bearing and a new Daiken clutch for $250. through Auto-1. Most part stores offer this.
