apparently the people who owned my MY before me replaced the fuel pump 3 times, and the tick still remained. i'd like to know how to fix it IF i can fix it. I'm not even sure it's the fuel pump. It's an EA81 carby engine. Would anyone be able to tell me whats wrong with it?

What kind of a ticking is it? Is it definitely fuel pump relate? The fuel pump will tick about 2 times every 3 seconds at idle (well mine does).
Perhaps you could try isolating the pump with some rubber mounts, or even get some rubber washers to damp out the vibration a little.

you could temporarily disconnect the power to the pump and see if it stops, then it looks to be the pump. that is one noise I do not miss since going LPG
this is the fuel pump mounted to chassis rail left hand rear on Brumby anyway, a bugger of a spot to work in to modify, almost need to mount it on a wide rubber belt held between custom mounts to kill the noise
