MY accelerator cable

Post by Cliff R » Wed Dec 28, 2016 1:41 pm

I am looking to replace the original MY wagon accelerator cable.

I found one on ebay with the following description

GENUINE Subaru Brumby Accelerator Cable 737065231 NEW

$59.95 isn't bad but will this fit any MY or was there something special about the Brumby.

Any info on the right part number if the above is for the Brumby only.

My 1980 parts catalog (excluding MV/Brumby) says the accelerator cable p/n is 737065002.

I bought an L series accelerator cable from a local Subaru dealership once which fit perfectly into my MY wagon, so I seriously couldn't see there being any difference in the one your looking at and the 737065002 in my catalog. Maybe a difference between LHD and RHD vehicles.
Will it ever end!?
-EA81 TWIN CARB!!!!
-L series 5 speed
-Custom paint job
-2" lift
-Full custom re-wire
-L series front end

LHD cable will be shorter than a RHD unit ;)

Brumby and wagon/sedan/coupe are all the same.

I thought they would be the same.

This is the one I am looking at.

Still not sure what the differences are with the part numbers.

Run the part number through the US fleabay site and see what comes up - if plenty show up in the states you'll have your answer ;)

Contacted the seller who confirmed via their records that the cable will fit so bought one tonight. See how it goes when it gets here.
