EA81 Head Interchangeability

Post by Gumbungle » Sun Nov 30, 2014 8:41 pm

Hi all
Are EA81 heads interchangeable side to side?

They seem to be identical, but have different casting numbers (16 vs. 9).
I got the heads back from reconditioning and as I was about to assemble them, I began to wonder...

TIA

Marcus

Mix a Lot ...

Yep - Only thing to watch out for is holes for accessories like power steering, as they may have had them done only on the right bank ( driver side in Oz ). + If you're going to be re-using them, try & keep them on the same side ( i.e. : mark them L & R ) to aid in wear & tolerances ... ;)

Cheers, Bantum ...

Thanks to you both for the info.

Proceeding with rebuild - today I discovered sway bar rubbers and rear engine (gearbox) mounts all shot. Very little maintenance had been done on this little Suby in 120,000kms.

cheers all,

Gumbungle
