MY, EA81 fuel pump

Post by Cliff R » Tue Apr 01, 2014 8:18 pm

Looks like the EA81 fuel pump is on the way out,
I know after market electric pumps that looks like a cylinder can be bought as can a block style electric pump.
I am wondering what are peoples experiences with after market pumps, what type they bought, where/how did they mount them and any problems they had doing this.
I already have an after market block style electric pump but I am dubious on where/how to mount this and I think I need to mount it no further than a max of 12 inches above the fuel tank or it wont be able to suck the fuel from the tank.
I have also picked up an L series block style electric pump but these appear to have been mounted near the fuel tank.
I would prefer to keep the pump in its current location behind the LH side front strut in the engine bay.
Just wondering on peoples thoughts and experiences.

Going with the Ecco brand SU type diaphragm pump.
See how it goes.
Part number 15LM12 (3 to 4 psi)
