Hitachi Carb Rebuild-messed up jets

Post by gigi.cocreates » Wed May 08, 2013 5:29 pm

Hi Everyone,

My Subie's an 82 Leone 4 door Sedan. Have been having similar problems as in "Touring Wagon - Will not start" thread.

Replaced the contact points in dizzy (distributor... right?) and when this didn't seem to make much of a difference, I figured rebuilding the carb (Hitachi DCM306-8 204) wouldn't hurt.

I realized after reading SilverBullet's "Rebuilding a Hitachi" (after rebuilding, of course!) that I may have messed up the jet/bleed screw reinstall, because I failed to note the placement...wondering also if I may also have inadvertently damaged the jets with my screwdriver as well...

All that said, has anyone ever replaced the jets on their carb? Can't find much online on Hitachi jet replacement other than motorcycle jet replacement.

Gigi, I did a rebuild on my Hitachi just recently, still didn't fix it. I couldn't get the main jets out. Think that is still the problem as it coughs and splutters on acceleration.

I am actually thinking of swapping it out for a weber 32/36 carby.
