dual air cleaner snorkels on my EA82?

I notice the passenger side of the air cleaner already has a rectangular inlet/outlet where some emission's equipment hoses are attached to. I'm thinking it might be possible to turn that into another fresh-air snorkel, and just cleverly- attach the emission's equipment hoses back to the same location. Perhaps have it suck fresh air from the passenger-side fender, as it already has plumbing for the driver-side.

If I have to go over the pits and the mechanic isn't 100% familiar with EA82's I think this might go overlooked as long as it looks like all the hoses are still connected and straight.

I'm also pondering an exterior fresh-air snorkel mount. :???:
This is so I can have some of the coolest, cleanest possible air for my engine;
good for extremely bright sunny hot days.
I'd like it rear facing so it doesn't force rain or sand into the inlet.
Kinda like the snorkels you see on Triton's and LandCruisers,
but without the extra length extending it up the windscreen-pillar.
The shorter the snorkel, the less air resistance at a given diameter tube.
My passenger side fender already has some holes in it,
so I wouldn't mind trying to cut this one out first as an experiment. :p

*Since I have to modify the stock fresh-air snorkel already, it got me thinking. :mrgreen:

The fresh air snorkel, is this for the cabin or the engine?

And I realise you've gone to great lengths to keep your car cool in the aussie sun, but I'm sorry to say, sort of a shady tree or carport your cabin is still going to be stiflingly hot when you leave it in the sun.

I've got my subi parked on the last bit of remaining snow, it's 10.5C outside yet in the cab it's well over 45 degrees!

I'm keen to see how you go with these snorkels...

Cheers
