Hi guy's,
I got a l series Suby 4wd wagon off my father in law and although a heap of people worked on when I got it man have I had some fun. The guy who changed the timing belt on the right hand side didn't tighten up the bolts on the pulley and it came off. So this morning I got online and finally found as service manual for the EA832 motor and section 2-6 for the carbi was missing from the manual. Anyway now I got the engine re-timed and idling nicely the fuel/air mixing screw is stuffed so when one puts the throttle down it's just flooding. I do have another carbi here in bits but I would like that section on the service manual so I can follow it.

If any of you guys have that section of the manual and can either post it here or let me know where I find it on the net it would be great. We have an 85 acre farm and I reckon this 4wd drive wagon will go anywhere on it so I am keen to get it going and it make for a decent work car too.

don't think the idle rich scrw can cause it to flood or bog due to too lean. To me sounds like the carby pump plunger is not working nicely.

G'day Guys,
Well had another look at the carbi this morning and found the primary jet is spitting out fuel and when the filter and cover are on there is no acceleration and just bogs down. But when the the filter and top cover is off it will accelerate but is noisy as hell. Anyway with the fuel mixture setup stuffed I think the best bet is go for a reconditioned carbi. The car has had a heap of trouble running rough in the past and Eblems report was the carbi was the main problem. What surprises me as 2 mechanics have looked at this motor and charged a small fortune both never replaced the dizzy cap, points or rotor. Anyway it has been over a decade since I have needed to maintain any vehicle due to having a company vehicle so this subi will be my baby and by the time I'm finished it will be mechanically purfect.

Many thanks to Toonga for doingthat post on the subi manuals in the tech forum. Now after reading the manual for the carbi version it did state the flywheel must be set to the centre division on the flywheel then set each timing pulley to the notch. Well last weekend I used the method in the -89 manual which didn't state about the flywheel so I thought the timing might be out. This morning I set the flywheel to the centre division and took both covers off to expose the timing pulleys. The left bank is 1/2 a tooth out and the right bank is spoton. so it does look like timing isn't my problem here.

On starting the car this morning it was only running on 2 cylinders and just to get it to move I had to increase the idling speed and take the top off the carbi filter. I'm getting my missus to get a new dizzy cap and rotor this morning as both are badly worn. Now I'm at a loss as why the motor is running worse now since I fixed the left bank timing pulley.

G'day Guy's,
Took the top off the carbi and found the fuel bowl nearly empty so I reckon I got either a fault with the fuel pump or the return line. some previous owner did some mod's and some of the emission system has been blocked off and whats the bet the problem will lie around that.
