I'm just wondering how much difference there would be between one of them and an EJ22 as they are basically the same block.

I remember something earlier (a year or two maybe) that someone weighed their EJ22 and it was like around 80kg.. I'm guessing that would have been without all the accessories on it

That sounds about right to me steptoe - I would put an EJ22 in at 120kg without having weighted it, this includes the flywheel.

must say I was not impressed at first, but consider alternator itself weighs a bit, then clutch kit, then flywheel. As i put it on its diet I will come back, and hope when people need to know a weight in future of these engines this will help coming up in search function.

So what are you up to down there?

Does this mean the great Jono will be venturing down the EJ path?

Poor orphan EJ16 that nobody wanted ...couldn't help myself....a chance to familiarise self with its ins and outs and maybe just maybe see how it looks in an engine bay and that turbo post TOONGs dug up has me thinking ...along the lines of Ford going with the ecoboost 4cyl 2.0 turbo in Falcons soon in a showroom near you. Smaller cc's always seemed to rev better than their bigger breathing brothers. If an EJ16 fits up, maybe I will be tempted to look for a bigger EJ . Caught up with my machine shop pal - ha EJ16 ...too old !! Go for a 22 ! Got an engineers cert for me then ?
