eBay GC8 alloy radiator?

Post by H-top » Tue Feb 01, 2011 8:32 pm

I'm buying

an Impreza sports wagon and it needs a radiator.

My libbo still has the stock NA radiator and want
to swap it into the impreza.

Is this a direct swap and can I use a GC8
eBay alloy radiator to swap it with?

Are they reliable?

Anyone used them on the forum?

Cheers

Lib and Impreza radiators are quite different and not pratical to interchange.
The cheap alloy ebay rad in my wagon works a treat, but the fans are cable tied on cause none of the fan mounts line up with the factory fans.
Daza.

I've got one in my Gen III Outback, bolted up perfect, fans bolted on in the right places etc.
BUT, because the radiator is now around 3 times as thick, I had to change the A/C fan to a slim line one as it fouled on the timing belt cover, and the main fan is maybe 5mm from the A/C idler pulley bracket and I *might* change it for a slim line one too.
I also didn't like the crap plastic drain plug on the side, so swapped it for a brass tap type one, and I also got a mate to weld the top overflow tube joiner (attaches to the filler neck) as mine just didn't look right - all good now and does keep constant temps, even in 40c days lugging up hills etc.

Can't remember what the brand name was, ASI or something along those lines.
It's to suit my Gen III Outback.

FWIW, the one's JustJap sell are the same radiator's with their logo/initial's on it - people on Rexnet etc haven't had anything go wrong with those one's either.
