In denial: leaking cyl head

I did a once over on my L series EA82 yesterday and found some corrosion on the underside of my RH Cylander head. There appears to be coolant leaking out as there is a dried grrn drip and white splashes on the sump and exhaust.

I expect to do 4 X 450km with offroad work in the next three weeks so will need to get something done.

Will a pressure test confirm my worst fears .... this was a new recon motor when I bought the car 3 years ago. I service diligantly.

Whats fix up worth?

My mechanic suggested $1100 with a waterpump.

Having the same issues with my l seies too. appeares to be losing coolant and i cant track it down. susspect weeping head gasget also.

Have run through the various costs also and my mechanic also came up with much the same figures for repair.

Also rang Sunspares here in QLD and they can supply a reco engine with new seals etc for $1250 with 6 months warranty.

As i may have issues down the track with noisy lifters also ( i have overhauled the oil pump - new seals etc which has improved the situation some what) Ive decide to keep running as is and when the siuatuion gets worse try some kind of stop leak.
I figured for the small difference in cost to run the engine till it died then get a "new " one.

I have had noisy lifters but they are pretty much gone now. I replace my oil every 5000K exactly and used lifter free for a year or so, now I have no need for it at all.

Sometime the lifters stick a bit but its only for a short while and then they come good. Normaly at start up.
