EA81T ECU Error codes

Post by Matt » Fri Nov 19, 2010 8:24 pm

Does someone have a list of error codes and how to read them (ie ignition on or running, etc; i know where the LED is for the reading just don't know when to read) for a standard EA81T ECU?

Thanks

Subaru have kept the code numbers constant throughout the different models, so the link below should be of help (the EA81T used the same EFI system as the 3 plug 85-86 EA82T)

How to check EA82 MPFI ECU codes
Current rides: 2016 Mitsubishi Triton GLS & 2004 Forester X
Ongoing Project/Toy: 1987 RX Turbo EA82T, Speeduino ECU, Coil-pack ignition, 440cc Injectors, KONI adjustale front struts, Hybrid L Series/ Liberty AWD 5sp
Past rides: 92 L series turbo converted wagon, 83 Leone GL Sedan, 2004 Liberty GT Sedan & 2001 Outback

Sorry to be a pain but do you have a picture of the plugs as the harness on the engine is well average at the moment(it needs major cutting down which will happen in a few weeks) i am not sure which plug is which. Or even the number of pins in the plugs to help narrow it down.

What does this code mean on a 3 Plug ECU?

12 - Starter Switch (remains OFF)

It means the ECU is not getting a voltage signal from the starter circuit when it you turn the key. It will result in poor starting because the ECU doesnt know when to give start enrichment.

A wire from the ECU is joined to the wire that goes from the key to the starter. Its that simple.

Do you have a wiring diagram or a ECU pin out?

Coxy here managed to find somw WSM info , exploded diagrams of the 81T turbo system . PM him to see if he has the computer pinout .

I remember looking at the diagrams he had and thinking this is very close to what an 85/86 EA82T system uses .

A .

Apparently it is the same as a EA82T 3 plug pinout. And EA82T one would help greatly to get me heading in the right direction. :) Also PM Sent. Thanks :)
