Hi; still persevering with the electric sub. As mentioned, the L 3.7 diff ratio is too high; is there a 4.4 or thereabouts that will interchange with the L diff?

Gen3 Outback 4 speed automatics have a 4.444 rear diff.
The 4.111 rear diff is also quite common, found on all Gen3 manuals and H6 autos.
Only difference is that they have different rear axles.
L series and early Libertys have male stubs on the diff, later models have female sockets and the stubs are on the axles.
But i have a feeling that somebody here has converted the stubs to suit earlier rear axles

Dont forget , if you change the diff ratio, you have to change the ratio in the front diff to the same.

Diff ratio wont matter in this case because he is using a FWD gearbox and using an electric motor to drive the rear diff

Thank you; 4.11 is 11% reduction; 4.444 is 20 %.Any idea of approproximate cost? Other option is to remount motor with forklift reduction cog on diff flange which gives 30%reduction; but at 100ks in front wheel drive electric motor would be freewheeling at approximately 3,500rpm.Will have to find out self destruct rpm; which was common in early forklifts if drive shaft broke.
