Head bolt seq LEFT RIGHT heads differ

Looking at factory and gregory diagrams of RHS head in both, the first bolt is always the lower middle bolt, #2 is step up and towards the rear of the engine ( to your left if facing the head), forward to #3 and so on.

Instructions say to repeat same order on LHS.

Question: on LHS is #2 step up and back, or step up and forward? If it is not and the heads are the interchangeable L and R heads, if they are interchanged so does the sequence.

I have always viewed diagram and treated LHS as #2 steps up and to my left, but the bolt #2 is now towards the front of the engine

Got my drift?

doesn't matter the main thing is to take it in 3 steps, working up the torque each time, and work in an inward spiralling motion from the outer studs to the inner, this is with any engine.

EA82 heads ARE interchangable - so you use the same torque sequence for each side as you'd read it in the book...

This is how I did all the heads when I used to play with EA82s...

I was thinking along the uninterchangeable EA82T heads unless you drill more holes and tap for oil in out for turbo.

Just thought Subaru would have been more specific or mention the difference.

Found that the gen head gaskets I used did not nee any more torque after the first warm up as specified in most manuals
