Someone posted earlier about fitting a P76 V8 into the subi.
Measured one last night, block is 700mm from rear face of block to front of fan pulley.
I have been told taking the front timing casing off and fitting a Rover V8 one will lop about 150mm off the overall length. Some machining may be involved.
It looks like the width would not be a problem.

Thanx Tony..I remember that thread. So lets take this a bit further. What are you going to mate the engine to. The subaru gearbox is too far forward. So OK ...the option as I see it is to drop the alloy V8 into the engine bay with its gear box behind it. Then we lose 4wd capacity and I don't think the gearbox tunnel will take it, not wide enough.??

Mate, its all very interesting and being an old V8 man its more than interesting. Rover 3.5s are being put into the MG applications but they have a very long engine bay and under bonnet area. I think that to put a V8 into a subaru is going to be a lot of headache. fabricating, swearing etc etc. Now, it going to be a real bit of that "something different" at a car show but for performance and practicality, there is no doubt that the EJ series of subaru motor would be the better option.

But hey, someone show me the way to go, I'm up for it. Two V8 droopy pipes hanging out the back of a brumby sounds good to me. Cheers mate.
