legacy auto to manual

G'Day all in subaru land!
have only ever had subys since i was 10 lol!
Quick Query....Want to swap auto box in 96 Legacy to 5 speed manual..Does Anyone know what Basiacally is involved re work, parts and or cost. PS, new down in Melbourne and also would love to know some decent mechanics that work on subys!!! Thanks heaps,
