G'day
thinking of welding my spare diff for offroad use
how do the CVs old up? with little road use
also how strong are the spider gears

The CV's hold up okay but depends how much you drive it, naturally they are under alot more stress and will fail prematurely, but they'll last long enough. The stub axels can also and driveshafts can also break but I've only seen that happen offroad.

The question about the spider gears is abit redundant, they are what you weld when you make a locked diff. You effectively don't have spider gears afterwards, just a lump of molten metal instead.

ive had my welded diff in for 2 years and still have the original cv's in the rear from when i got the car, although i had to change a boot on one once.
