New Clutch

Hey chaps, got my clutch replaced on my Forester today. Have no idea how to do it so I got my mechanic to do it.
This is the costs:
Labour: $360.00
Removed gearbox, removed clutch assembly and flywheel. Had flywheel machined and re-fitted, replaced spigot bearing, fitted new clutch, fitted gearbox, crossmember, exhaust, filled gearbox with oil.

Clutch cost $391.50

Just wondering if I've overpaid. I certainly don't feel ripped off or anything and I'm not unhappy with how much I paid by any means, just wondering if this is a fair common price to pay if you don't have the mechanical experience.
Replacing a clutch is definately on my priority list for things I need to learn.

its the labour that costs much, i guess for mechanic would be 4 hours at 90 per hour?
Clutch, its possible would've included machine the flywheel normally would cost approx $40$60 bucks.
Two weeks ago i bought a new clutch for my liberty was $280. But about 2years ago got new one for my other liberty was 345bucks couldn't get cheaper at that time.
So i'm guessing its reasonable, i just wouldn't take it to mechanic as i'd do it myself.

you didnt pay to much.

Last 2 clutches ive done have cost the customers around $900 each.

but the Forrester is a fairly easy box for a mechanic to take out.

Thanks for the replies guys. yeah I certainly didn't want to feel hard done by, but I was sliiiiightly hoping it would be cheaper. Ohwell. She drives like new now.

Got a quote for a same year Outback , flywheel and clutch coz flywheel of dual mass cant be machined $2324.93 just for the parts , no labour, or $1267 for clutch kit

Geez.. that is 4x of the price what it should've be!!!!!!!!!!
Clutch Kit for 1996-1998 Outback is $280 same as Liberty.

tell them to get f***ed.

If the Dual Mass Flywheel is ok there is no need to convert to a Solid.

you cna easily get away without machining the flywheel if it hasnt been abused when the clutch was worn, just scrub it back good with some high grit paper to get rid of the shiny appearance.

Good bit of advice there, but this is a workshop fitting clutch for customer expecting job to last, like warranty on workmanship. Anyway, that is what me mate did after close inspection. The throw out bearing assy had shat itself completely, had high spots on the pressure plate but flywheel looked good. And yes the aftermarket guys were given the flick - that $1200 was their suggested retail on the clutch kit. Genuine Subaru retail was compared at $520. It is worth the extra call to the dealer for prices and he got the extra expertise of the parts guy knowing the clips part number and supplying them also without grief. Imagine if customer compared dealer quote to aftermarket quote - he'd be fuming , and not at aftermarket but my mate!
