After reading the head gasket fixer thread, and some lol, it would seem I should consider a conversion for my rx. Is this a worthwhile persuit? What models would a guy chase that had the ej? Thanks for the knowledge and great entertainment.

It's definitely a worthwhile pursuit - more power, greater reliability, and often at similar cost to getting a reconditioned EA82.

All Subarus from about 1989 onwards have had some sort of EJ engine. There are 1.6, 1.8, 2.0, 2.2 and 2.5L non-turbo engines from Imprezas and Liberty/Legacys. Or if you want a turbo, look for a Liberty RS or Impreza WRX. Any of the single cam non-turbo EJ engines will drop straight in, turbos require a bit more work in modifying/replacing crossmembers.

Do it! You won't regret it.

Yes

But the EJ22 in a light old Subie has a fair bit of go still
