Hmmmm..... well the clutch is slippin in the old brumby so time for a replacement. Rang up one mob who quoted $830 with flywheel machine etc. Repco sells cluth by itself for $400! Am i better of tracking down an ea81 motor/box combo second hand (seen em for around 250) and putting that in? Any ideas on what others have done????

Your better off getting a clutch from someone who isn't going to rip you off, unless your motor and box are needing a replacement. I reckon I can get you a new one for about $250, clutch industries brand.

Are we talking the pressure plate and clutch disc for the $250 price? Sunnie's clutch is starting to slip if you give it to him from low down in the rev range... I'm looking at just replacing the clutch disc and possibly dropping in a 5spd at the same time.

$250 is about what they should be. Clutch Disc, Pressure Plate, and Throw Out Bearing.
dont forget to do the Spigot/Pilot Bearing in the flywheel either.
also there is 2 sizes, an 8 inch and a 9 inch in the MY's.
Elfreddo - are you sure its slipping, try cruising in 4th then trying to accelarate, if the revs flare up then its the clutch,
also can do a stall test from still with Handbrake on in a high gear. the engine should stall pretty promptly, if not, also clutch.

No need to Matatak - its defenetly the clutch slipping. Drive up a hill with revs near 2,000RPM, put the foot in and up the revs goes the engine til you take your foot off the throttle, you can physically feel the car slowing down when this happens.
Currently it only happens when you give it some stick low in the rev range... Hopefully it'll hold out til end of November.
