cooked engine

Post by fujisoobs » Mon Aug 18, 2008 6:46 pm

hey,
I blew a heater hose and kept driving for bout 3 km's. my car stopped. it won't start at all now, and there's water in one of the cylinders, and wooshy steam came out of the oil filler. When i try and start it, pressure builds up in the radiator and stuff swooshes out when i take the radiator cap off.

My dad says it's stuffed but i don't believe him. What do you reckon?

Thanks from Lisa.

You might of blown a headgasket or cracked a cylinder head. You won't know the full extent of the damage untill you have pulled it apart.
What enginr is it?

If you're lucky, it's a headgasket. Fairly straightforward repair.

If you've got a rear diff guard on the donor car I'll call dibs on it - if you don't know if its got one, it is a flat based plate that wraps under then up the rear diff if that makes any sense...

Cheers

i guess you found out the hard way why its important to check old and cracked hoses.
engine swap is def easier than repairing yours, good luck with the new one!

ok so the engine's in and the touring wagon is running well, but if i stop at a red light for example, it shudders like a bitch! could it be the spark plugs? it didn't happen before.

thanks for the help guys.

Does it idle properly at other times? Does it get smoother the longer you sit at the light?
