drive pinion shaft removal

anyone know how to get the drive pinion shaft out of a FWD auto ej22 trans....need to replace the bearing on the shaft

Remove the rear cover and front diff housing, they both just unbolt. Remove the large pinion nut [at the rear] and the four bolts that secure the pinion flange [at the front]. Tap the shaft out leaving the rear gear in place.

thanks heaps.....i need to replace the bearing at the front...auto was fine but huge noise came from trans when driving...sounded like stuffed bearings plus had metal filings in gear oil

wow that was easy once your told how it comes appart...cheers steve...bearings seem to look ok but there is play....cant see any other possible couse for metal filings in diff fluid so i say its the bearings....steve,how much you charge for the bearings to do the job...pinion and both drive shaft bearings...thanks

PM ed Those shaft bearings normally dont give trouble, check out the diff gears and carrier bearing.

bill I have a 4.11 front diff + pinion shaft sitting in my shed. southside brisbane. cheap...
should solve your issues. had no problems before i stripped the box
