how to tell if its a dohc or sohc

i no i propebly sound stupid asking this but can someone tell me how to tell the diffrence between a dohc and a sohc ej20. or show me with a couple of pics

You just look at the timing covers on the front. A SOHC will have small covers that are simply round on the outer ends. A DOHC will have large covers that are kind of flat on the ends.

get a 10mm 3/8" socket small extension and ratchet, take three bolts off the small timing cover on the passengers side of the engine, if there is one cam sprocket underneath, it is SOHC if there is two (and possibly more bolts to undo on the cover or different style of cover) then it is DOHC. SOHC is much much nicer to replace a timing belt on :)
