Hey i have a 91 subaru l series that has a fairly worn gearbox I am doing a ej20 transplant later on and was wordering what would be the best option for my gearbox a rebuild or a second hand unit that is less worn?

any information would be greatly apprciated :)

If you are gonna get an EJ20, why not just fit the EJ gearbox while you are at it.

ej would probly b better if u didn't want high and low range.

2 options -

Get Dual Range EJ box from Liberty - they're longer than L series's box hence drive train will need be mod.
Get EA dual range box - low kms.
If you're planning to do EJ conversion - you're better off getting EJ box and modify the dual range gearset from your old EA box.

awd seems to handle itself pretty well off road in my very limited experience, I would go for the liberty ej gearbox with hi/lo range.
