G'day ,

I have an 84MY Wagon Touring Wagon that I'm slowly doing up. Reco engine put in and 13" original sunraysias with new Pirellis.

I have a question about the carby. The report from the new engine place in Melb said 'poor carby' It runs good but has a big flatspot at 1500rpm almost stalls when cold but get better as warms up, tho still noticeable. Have to use the choke in morns otherwise stalls.

The fuel consumption is shockin maybe 20litres / 100km (city drivng) . What the heck is goin on? Ths can't be normal and with fuel prices it's sending me broke.

I love it and really wanna keep the car and do it up but having doubts. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Dan

Being an 84 model it will have the same intake manifold as the EA82 L series motors, I would recommend getting an EA82 carby, recondition it and fit it to you vehicle, that we you get the bonus of auto choke too.

When I did this I rejetted mine to get a bit more power too, 120 primary, 210 secondary, averaged about 10L/100km with this setup.

Jordan.
